How long does the Global Talent Stream take?

How much does the Global Talent Stream cost?

The employer pays a non-refundable LMIA processing fee of $1,000 CAD per position, which cannot legally be passed on to the worker. Does a Global Talent Stream job offer give me extra Express Entry points?

Not any more. IRCC removed job offer points from the Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System on 25 March 2025, including the points that used to apply to LMIA-backed offers, and this remains in effect as of 17 July 2026. How does a Global Talent Stream work permit lead to permanent residence?

The realistic path runs through Canadian work experience. After roughly a year of skilled, full time work in Canada, you can typically qualify under the Canadian Experience Class in Express Entry, scoring on your work experience, age, education, and language rather than the job offer itself. Many GTS-eligible tech occupations are also periodically targeted by Express Entry category-based selection draws, and workers already in Canada often pursue a Provincial Nominee Program nomination, which adds 600 Comprehensive Ranking System points. If you do not yet have one, Express Entry, including category-based draws for STEM and tech occupations, is usually the more direct route to explore in parallel.
