Does a provincial nomination mean I automatically get permanent residence?

In general, yes. A provincial nomination typically extends to accompanying family members, such as a spouse or partner and dependent children, when they are included on the same application, and they are normally included in the resulting PR application too. An accompanying spouse or partner can generally apply for their own open work permit while the PR application is being processed. Rules on who counts as an accompanying family member and how they are included vary by province and by stream, and this has not been independently verified against every provincial programme, so confirm the specifics with your target province and with IRCC before you plan around it.

What is the difference between an enhanced and a base PNP stream?

Enhanced streams nominate candidates already in the federal Express Entry pool, and the nomination adds 600 CRS points. Base streams involve applying directly to the province, often through a separate paper-based process, followed by a standalone federal PR application outside Express Entry. Is the OINP Tech Draw still active?

Its status is unclear. The Tech Draw previously sat inside Ontario's Human Capital Priorities stream, which was revoked as part of Ontario's 2026 restructure alongside several other streams. Ontario introduced a new Ontario Workforce Priority stream in its place, built around arranged employment, but a dedicated tech draw has not been confirmed as part of the new framework. Does BC PNP still have a dedicated tech stream?
