US O-1 Visa for tech
The O-1 visa lets people with extraordinary ability work in the US. For technology the O-1A track fits most people. There is no annual cap and no lottery, and a US employer or agent files the petition.
Who it is for
Engineers, data and AI specialists, product leaders, researchers, and technical founders who can show sustained recognition in their field. You qualify with a single major achievement or by meeting at least three of the eight O-1A criteria.
Costs and family
Most petition fees are the sponsor's responsibility, while applicants often cover legal, document, and relocation costs. A spouse and children under 21 can join on the O-3 visa, where they can study but O-3 spouses cannot work.
